Blog

This Page will be about what I am working on at present. This will be like the game's development diary essentially.

So here goes the first entry:

I've just been working on getting the game to work so you can buy/sell more shares per click. You basically can now hold down A to buy/sell 5 shares or hold down S to buy/sell 10 shares. This took a while because of the way the program is structured, and how everything works. Silas' programming technique is very different to mine, and since he designed the GUI, it affects the game logic, but I'm adjusting quickly. I'll release this new feature with v1.03, but I really feel that there needs to be more new features before we can ship out a new release. I know that Silas wanted nightly builds, but since there's only one new feature that only affects game play a little bit, I've decided that I'll leave it until we decide to release our next version, or tomorrow's build.

I've also been working on a bug in the browser version, it seems to just go beyond 100 days, so I've been trying to figure out how to stop that, but I guess until we can get a better way of dealing with a time limit in the downloadable version, it's not going to be a great deal better in the browser version.

So that's it for this entry, but I will update the blog as much as possible, and I think that Silas will do so as well.

Entry 2:

So I've been working on a banner, it's really not that great, but it's here anyway. If you are on any forums, and you would like to support us, please use this as a banner in your signature and attach a url to it that links to our home page

Entry 3:

Sorry we didn't update last night, but Silas wan't able to access his computer, so I wanted to get his opinion on everything before starting to release tonight's build. So now that it's released, we're sorted and ready to go for tomorrow. We're seriously considering developing other games as well, and we're already working on ideas for one. We've decided that it'll be cool if we can make free, good quality games that appeal to everyone.

In the latest update, 1.03 we have been working on several things. The first of which is the buy 5 and buy 10 buttons. These both work by either clicking them or by holding down Q or E when buying/selling stocks. Another thing we've done is put in a game ending on, so when you get to 100 days, it displays a profit. Silas also managed to fix the bug where some buttons stay highlighted, so that's all good now.

Entry 4:

So now we've got a new feature for 1.04, it's pretty cool that when the game ends, you can start over, or you can just quit. It's been pretty difficult to get to work, but I've worked on it, and it's done now.

Silas and I have been working hard all day on something else though... Brass Bros. It's most definitely something that we want to work more on, so Economy's development won't be as full steam ahead as we thought it might be. Brass Bros. is going to be a steampunk-themed, top down RPG, and we hope to release   a little prototype at the same time as we release Economy 1.04 tonight. (9PM GMT.)

Another thing that we managed to do today, which we really struggled with yesterday, was coming up with a name for our programming team: Team Slate.

I'm going to end this post here, and will have 1.04 up by 9PM GMT tonight.

Michael.
